Unlocking the future: EU industrial ecosystems on the path to the green and digital transition

EU Industry Days is Europe’s flagship annual event, highlighting industrial frontrunners and ongoing industrial policy discussions whilst improving the knowledge base of European industry. It is the main platform to discuss industry challenges and co-develop opportunities and policy responses in an inclusive dialogue with a wide range of stakeholders.

The 2022 edition will take place in hybrid format in Brussels between 8 – 11 February 2022, and it will stimulate discussions across industrial ecosystems on their green and digital transition, in support of strengthening the resilience of EU companies (including SMEs).

It will also hold discussions on how the young generation can shape the future of EU industry, in line with the Commission proposal to make 2022 the European Year of Youth.

Young people are the future of EU industry, but they are also the recipients of current industry leaders’ decisions, which affect them as consumers, employees, and entrepreneurs. With this in mind, this Special Youth Programme will place the focus of the EU Industry Days on some of the most urgent concerns for young Europeans today: social equality, youth unemployment and precarious work, and the urgent call for sustainable and socially responsible business models.

Registration for the EU Industry Days Pitching contest is now complete, for all business ideas supporting the transition to a sustainable, digital and resilient economy. The finals of the pitching contest will take place on 10 February 2022 in Brussels within the main EU Industry Days programme – four finalists will pitch their business ideas live and get expert feedback from business experts and investors, as well as the audience. Finalists will get group and individual coaching sessions in advance of the event, travel and accommodation expenses to Brussels covered – and a chance of winning a prize.

The EU Industry Weeks is a wider framing of the EU Industry Days, bringing the discussion to the local communities. Local events are taking place across the EU and beyond as part of EU Industry Weeks 2022 until the end of February 2022.

Virtual workshops, fairs, seminars, open door sessions and business presentations will demonstrate how European industrial ecosystems are approaching the topics of:

  • The green and digital transition
  • Resilience
  • Youth in industry

This official EU Industry Days podcast series gathers industry insiders, academia, Commission officials, and many others to place the spotlight over the green and digital transition, the resilience of EU companies, the strategic dependencies identified in the EU Industrial Policy, and the role of youth in industry. Whilst preparing for the 30-year anniversary of the Single Market, the podcasts offer a range of inspiring success stories through key and varied views on the role of the green and social economy, the added value of youth entrepreneurship, the importance of networking organizations, and many other topics.
