MaaS in Tourism

Description
The main idea of this product would be to offer a platform combined with an application that can integrate all the available means of mobility in the tourist destination that will have use. To be more specific we will create a product that will be customized to each client/tourist destination needs and with the main goal to reduce the use of cars with carbon emits and promote the public use of transports and others eco-friendly mobility choices. This g2c product will be combined with g2c services for any support that may the client need after the sale of the product.

The need that creates this idea has to do with the lack of an integrated platform/app that includes all the available means of mobility in the tourist destinations that I have already visited like the Greek islands.

The main market will be Greece but after that other countries or islands across the Europe can be examined depending on the impact that this product/idea will have.
As about the revenue mechanism this will be based on investment funds, private sponsors, competitions prizes and commissions.

As for the experience of the team regarding to this idea there are strong relationships. The first member of the team, John Zapantiotis, who will be the project manager has previous studies in civil engineering and now he studies a master university program in the university of the Aegean in e-government where he approached the MaaS concept through an academic lesson and he made study work and research upon this. Apart from that through his current work position as technical auditor in Elanet he travels a lot across the Greek islands and in the region of Athens and he knows the needs of each municipality and the infrastructures that each city has. So he has strong knowledge not only about civil engineering and mobility issues but also he knows a lot about MaaS concept and how this will contribute to the digital transformation of many Greek tourist destinations. The second member of our team, Nikolaos Zapantiotis, who will be the primary point of contact, he is a graduate from the Department of Economics in Athens. Also, he has been an intern at Orange Grove, an incubator of startups, and he has worked as an Account Manager at Hop In Sightseeing, one of the most reputable travel agencies in Athens. So, he has experience in startup competitions as well as in travel industry. Furthermore, he has worked in a leasing car company for a short period.

This platform/idea has the uniqueness of combining the MaaS concept with tourism as until now there are no other platforms/apps that approach this combination in Greece. So as many Greek islands and municipalities in the Greek mainland started to transform into smart and green cities and many means of mobility are started to establish like electric bicycles, electric scooters and electric cars more the need is for an integrated platform/app that will offer all the available means of mobility in each tourist destination.

Sustainable Development Goals

11. Sustainable cities and communities

This idea supports mostly the Goal 11 targets for more sustainable cities and communities. To be more specific this idea will promote the use of public transports in each municipality that will have use but also will promote the eco-friendly means of mobility that are available to each city. Apart from that this idea will enhance the relationships of local communities as there will be a choice for each municipality to add rewarding system for users/citizens/visitors from the local market depending on their travelling model.
