VerifiK8 is a digital tool which connects stakeholders across the food supply chains and monitors environmental and social indicators directly from the farms. It is a unique way for corporations to assess the sustainability of their supply base and engage targeted solutions with farmers. It also supports the implementation of innovative sustainability projects to reduce the carbon footprint, recycle and reuse sugarcane bagasse for packaging, and improve social and environmental impact.

VerifiK8 addresses the lack of transparency and traceability in the food supply chains, allowing our customers to precisely monitor the sustainability (social, environmental, carbon footprint) of their supply base for the first time. Food supply chains have a poor environmental footprint (25% of total greenhouse gas emissions), witness terrible social conditions (1.5 million of farm workers are victims of forced labour) and do not represent a stable source of revenues for the 100million smallholder farmers in Asia. The lack of transparency and traceability in food supply chains makes it hard for food stakeholders to have data on the social and environmental situation of their supply base. VerifiK8 addresses this need, and offers a solution to monitor sustainability indicators directly from the farms and take action to improve them with concrete sustainability solutions.

Verifik8 is built to be agnostic to any commodity, farm, standard and geography. Verifik8 currently targets sugarcane and seafood companies in South-East Asia but is also looking to integrate other commodities in other parts of the world. The demand for sustainably sourced products is fastly growing and an increasing number of food stakeholders are looking for solutions to monitor and improve their sustainability indicators.

Our revenues come from yearly licensing fees sold to processors, mills, standard owners, auditors and agri food companies who want to monitor the sustainability of their supply base and mitigate social and environmental risk. Fees are calculated upon the size of their supply base. Our revenues will grow alongside the increasing demand for certified, sustainable products. We are developing paid-for Premium features for farmers which will open additional revenue streams.

Our team composed of 5 persons has years of global experience in: compliance, sustainability, agriculture /aquaculture science and data analysis. This provides us with an in-depth understanding of the food value chain and the technical knowledge to implement the best practices in sustainability. However, what makes us different is our combination of this and our regional presence in South East Asia. Our multilingual team are experts in working on the ground with farming communities, allowing us to truly understand their needs. VerifiK8 is owned in majority by the two co-founders Emmanuelle and Yann, with a small shareholding from the accelerator HATCH. Our co-founders are both specialists of the AgTech sector as they are international consultants for the FAO, with more than 20 years of experience in their respective domain of expertise. Emmanuelle BOURGOIS is a lawyer specialized in social compliance, and Yann LAURENT has an engineering background with experience in agriculture, aquaculture and information systems. VerifiK8’s operations in South-East Asia are managed by Dr. Juliette ALEMANY, expert in data analysis applied to aquaculture and social sciences. Our company is based in Thailand, with our administrative director Thanyasiri DEEYING, our project coordinator Namfon UNTHAPANYA.

Our magic is that we have contacts with every stakeholders of the agrifood chain value eg from the farmer to the multinational companies (Nestle, PepsiCo, USAID). We co-design our app directly with the farmers while doing fieldtrips in order for them to use our solution more easily. With this way of working, we equally value both social and environmental sustainability.
