CareFeed

CareFeed is a company with a mobile application that helps to reduce food waste and delivers leftovers from food services to people in need (income<=30 thousands per year). Food suppliers post available meals/ foodstuff in reduced prices, that are going to be wasted. We use eco friendly vehicles (bicycles, electric scooters, on foot) to deliver the food to clients. Our company is open to accept anyone who wants to help by volunteering or/and donating.
Our greatest mission is to support people that live in necessity offering them the opportunity to have meals in affordable price, inspire and empower everyone to take action against food waste and free less CO2 to the environment.
What is the offering? CareFeed connects users with stores and restaurants that have unsold surplus food at the end of the day in an app! What is the need? According to surveys, each year around one third of the food produced in the world for human consumption gets wasted. There is food lost or wasted along the chain from farm to table, which also has a harmful effect on the environment. Unfortunately, it is very common for businesses to waste loads of food. CareFeed is an app that is addressed to food services such as supermarkets, bakeries, reastaurants, etc, and to consumers whose income is less than 30 thousands per year. Where does our revenue come from? Specifically, the food services who want to provide foodstuff in CareFeed have to pay 7 euros per month but there is an alternative offer of 75 euros per year. Secondly, CareFeed recieves 30-70% of every order's cost depending on the type of food. For instance, packaged products will have a fee of 70%, while cooked food will have a fee of 30%. Finally, supporters can donate any amount they want to help us achieve our cause. How did the CareFeed team start? Members of our team have experience in social action by distributing meals to needy people of their neighborhood. Non Governmental Organisations in collaboration with local food services stores organise handouts. So, we used this as an inspiration to create an app that includes the process of the handout in an electronic form that is easier and quicker. In addition, CareFeed via e-handout solves the food waste problem. Where is the magic? To start with, CareFeed is focused on three sectors: consumers (people in need), partners (food services stores) and the environment. First and foremost, the app is only accessible to people in need. By this way, exploitation is avoided by people who do not need to buy food stuff in reduced prices. Moreover, our partners will save money by selling the surplus which would have been food waste otherwise. Last but not least, each year, around one third of the food produced in the world for human consumption gets wasted. This equals to 2.5 billion tons of food wasted every year and is responsible for 10% of the global greenhouse gas emissions. CareFeed helps freeing less CO2 by reducing food waste and using only eco friendly vehicles for the delivery.
