AgerSmart
Description
AgerSmart is a mobile app for farmers that can provide useful information such as: monitoring of their fields, providing new information about cultivation, seeds or harvesting. Our goal is to make the farmer’s life easier with the use of technology. The app will have features such as controlling drones or other devices that are used in the farming process (IoT) but also an advice center. So far there is a plethora of applications that collect data from each device separately which adds to the complexity of Smart Farming. Additionally there is a lack of applications that provide the farmer with useful advice relative to his field.
Therefore there is a need for an application that collects the data from all the IoT devices in an agricultural field and gives it to the farmer in an understandable way, while also providing him with useful information and tips that will help both beginner as well as more experienced farmers.
Our application plans to reach farmers that already use smart devices in their fields across the world irrespective of their experience in agriculture. By recent estimates, 15% of farmers use IoT technologies in their fields. That translates to around 90 million farms worldwide and that number is sure to grow with each year. In Europe specifically (which is our first target market) out of 9.1 million farms there are 1.3 million farms that use IoT technology. Out of those farms we aim to obtain 39 thousand farms as clients within our first 3 to 4 years. Those clients can be individual farmers purchasing our product as well as agricultural enterprises that wish to buy our license and distribute it to their personnel without the need for each worker to purchase the premium version individually. Additionally, we plan to partner up with IoT technology firms that produce the devices that collect the data from the fields. This will be accomplished mainly by means of advertising in agricultural forums and social media, and secondly by reaching out to the community through friends and family that we have in agriculture. The community will help us improve the existing features of the app which in turn will result in a better product. We also plan to personally reach out to various agricultural enterprises and IoT technology firms that specialize in agriculture with our idea in order to expand our scope.
The app will support a free and a premium version. The free version allows the farmer to connect up to 5 monitored devices while the premium version supports unlimited devices. For individuals, the premium version of the app generates us 20€ monthly per subscription. That amounts to 240€ yearly per customer. Licensing for businesses will in turn generate 4560€ per license distributed yearly while partnerships will generate 2000€ per year in our first year, 4000€ on years 2 and 3, and 7000€ on year 4 onwards per annum. The price increase will largely be affected by the venture’s success in the sense that the price is lower early on to attract businesses in partnering with us.
Our team is armed with strong developers who can create and maintain the app as well as people who understand agriculture and the needs of the farmer and are part of the agricultural community in Greece, which will guarantee a very thematic and relevant to the farming community final product.

The data is collected, processed and given to the farmer in an understandable way while also providing consultation whenever the farmer wishes. The app aims at making Smart Farming easier for people who already switched to a more automated approach to the otherwise difficult work that is the farm while also making the venture more approachable to beginners.

Our idea helps open up jobs in the IoT and Robotics sector through promoting the use of those technology in agriculture, while also making the farm worker's life easier seeing as the worker doesn't need to collect and analyze data from the land such as humidity, chances of rain, soil pH etc.
