Household hydroponic farm kit

With the increase of the human population, climate change and the decrease of fertile farm land hydroponic farms are the future of agriculture. Most of today's hydroponic farms are a big capital investment and need a lot of people with university knowledge to maintain them.

My business idea is to build low maintenance hydroponic farm kits that people can incorporate into their home or garden. One of the advantages of hydroponic farms is that they consume 10 times less water than ground farms. Beside the basic parts that commercially available hydroponic kits have, my kit will also include temperature sensors, water nutrients sensors, air humidity sensors, electronically controlled valves, electronically controlled fans, light intensity sensor and a micro controller board. The micro controller board will be programmed with specific values of parameters that it receives from the sensors to grow a specific type of plant or plants with similar needs. The user doesn't need to do any checking's or watering. The only thing the user has do to is refill the nutrient reservoir with the specific type of fluid and simply electricity to the unit.

Most people want to easily grow fruits and vegetables but usually don't have the time, the fertile land or don't want to do the necessary work. With this product the costumer can consume completely fresh fruit and vegetables picked straight from the hydroponic farm that they have grown with easily . Unlike fruits and vegetables at stores that are usually stored in cold storage, are harvested unripe, treated with pesticides etc. Also standard hydroponic farms need a lot of maintenance by professionals for them to produce high yields. The use of a programmed micro board computer removes that factor.

This product can be a household item in all the countries around the world. There are no limitations to places where it can be used. But it's mostly needed in places that don't have fertile land or the climate conditions don't allow the growth of plants. Such places are Singapore (with a population of 5.6M), Norway (5.6M), UAE (9,9M), Egypt etc.

The main revenue will be coming from the kit itself. Even if all the parts are bought in bulk, there needs to be a frame with specific locations for the sensors so they can work correctly and read the correct parameters. The main source of income should be the program that is going to be used on the micro controller board. The program should be written with the help of a pomologist and a botanist that can tell the needed amount of specific nutrient that the plant needs based on the values received by the sensors. From the research that i have done i couldn't find this type of program on the market or anything similar. The program can come with the kit or the customer could pay a monthly fee for it's use. This program can also be sold to big hydroponic farm businesses to increase their plant yield.

The thing that sets apart my idea from similar products on the market is the use of computer generated software to ease the maintenance process. It can be implemented anywhere, there are no restrictions and it has the potential to store important data that can be used for further development.
