BusyCar
Description
BusyCar is an application, which provides an easy group transfer solution for businesses or closed group members. This service secures the most effective and economical way for co-workers to drive to the headquarters of a company. The main purpose of this application, is to create a common account, where all the members can log in, share their location and their destination, so that the people working in the same company, can have the opportunity to join them. One of the benefits of this application, is that it is an environmentally friendly form of transportation because it reduces air pollution. More specifically, the movement of a vehicle is the main cause because it is responsible for 65% of the total emitted hydrocarbons, for 68% of the total emitted nitrogen oxides and for 82% of the total emitted carbon monoxide in the atmosphere. Also, this app helps to ease traffic congestion: a normal lane on a highway has been found to serve 24% of cars but only 20% of passengers, while the lane for cars with more than two passengers serves 18% of vehicles and 30% of the passengers on the entire highway. This means that it doesn’t only reduce traffic, it also saves time because people can drive in the HOV (high occupancy vehicle) lane. It can also help people who work in the same company get to know their co-workers better, because it’s a way of socializing. Finally, by using this app the members can save money, because they share the costs of driving with other riders and prolong the life of their vehicle, as shared driving puts fewer miles on their own car.
The need:
- Ease traffic congestion: a normal lane on a highway has been found to serve 32% of cars but only 25% of passengers, while the lane for cars with more than two passengers serves 20% of vehicles and 35% of the passengers on the entire highway.
- Reduction of air pollution: by sharing a car for common destinations it reduces the amount of emitted hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxide in the atmosphere.
-Save time: less vehicles on the road, people can drive in the HOV (high occupancy vehicle) lane, faster way to reach the destination.
the market:
- Some employees struggle to get to work on time, especially the ones who live in remote areas and not near to the company. That’s why the companies have to find available vehicles for their employees to use for their transportation.
- A big amount of employees (1 out of 3), go to work using the local transportation. This means they spend extra energy and time to get to work. Some of them don’t own a car which means the local transportation is their only choice.
- Some employees may struggle with financial problems and as a result can’t afford using the public transport every day. That’s why by sharing a car for a common destination people will spend less money and time getting to work.
The revenue mechanism of BusyCar:
- The registration to the application is free for all members, but every month the members have to pay a subscription of 10 euros.
- For a confirmed transfer the fee is 1 euro.
